Abstract
On verso of print: "L to R: Mrs. N. Smith, Mrs. J.U. Moore, Chester Smith, Mrs. W.C. Hickman, Florence Moore, J.U. Moore, Willis Hickman, Wesley Hickman, John M. Moore. || Fish Picture - Mrs. N. Smith, Mrs. J.U. Moore, Chester Smith, Mrs. W.C. Hickman, Florence Moore, J.U. Moore, Willis Hickman, Wesley Hickman, John M. Moore / LS
Source: Smith, Lois". Fishing is still an important part of Humboldt County industry, but it is no longer what it used to be. While it is by no means extinct, recreational fishing has been hard hit by the long term effects of the heavy logging of the early 20th century. Stream degradation as a result of harsh logging practices has drastically diminished fish populations across California, including Humboldt County.
